A total of 17 FC Bayern Women players have been called up for their national teams to compete in April’s UEFA Nations League fixtures. Among them is Giulia Gwinn, who will captain Germany. fcbayern.com has an overview of who’s in action and where this month.
There will be seven Munich representatives in the Germany squad, with Franziska Kett, Klara Bühl, Linda Dallmann, Sydney Lohmann, Lea Schüller and Alara Şehitler joining captain Gwinn. It’s a first senior call-up for Kett after 27 caps at youth level. Ena Mahmutovic and Carolin Simon have been named on standby, with the goalkeeper initially joining the U23s for the finals of the European League.
The senior team are away at Scotland in the Nations League on Friday, 4 April (8.35pm CEST). The return fixture in Wolfsburg is the following Tuesday (5.45pm). This break encompasses matchdays 3 and 4 in the group stage. Germany currently lead their section on four points ahead of the Netherlands (also four), Austria and Scotland (both tree).
Sarah Zadrazil will be representing Austria in the Nations League, while Sweden’s squad includes Linda Sembrant, Magdalena Eriksson and Julia Zigiotti. They face Italy and Bayern teammate Arianna Carusso on Friday. Norway have called up Tuva Hansen; Poland have included Weronika Zawistowska; and Jovana Damnjanovic is with Serbia. Denmark captain Pernille Harder will face Italy the following Tuesday.
As well as long-term absentees Lena Oberdorf, Katharina Naschenweng and Georgia Stanway, who are all still unavailable for Germany, Austria and England respectively, Bayern captain Glódís Viggósdóttir (Iceland) and Momoko Tanikawa (Japan) will also miss out on this month’s internationals. Tanikawa suffered an ankle injury in the UEFA Women’s Champions League encounter with Lyon and will continue her rehabilitation in Munich. Viggósdóttir is sitting this break out due to a previous knee issue.
Arianna Caruso’s Italy will face a Sweden side including Linda Sembrant, Magdalena Eriksson and Julia Zigiotti.
