There is a strong embarrassment of riches for Unai Emery to pick from during every Aston Villa game. This includes Morgan Rogers. He recently had his senior debut for England and continues to reward his manager's trust in him at the club level.
Always causing issues for the opposition down the right-hand side, he managed to grab two assists against Brighton. More importantly, he is always involved in the link-up play and puts the ball in dangerous areas.
He has done well on a strong roster and is showing how valuable his presence on the pitch is. At 22, the prospect of him continuing to improve and build on his impressive start in the Premier League is an exciting prospect.
During any match, Emery will have to leave someone who would likely otherwise see playing time on the bench. With how Rogers is playing, however, he's going to continue to make a strong case for himself. For now, he appears to have a role in the starting XI solidified.
Speaking with Sky Sports, Amadou Onana described how he and his teammates view Rogers. While describing the England international as a "star boy," the midfielder elaborated:
"Still very young, but doing his thing in the Prem against the best players in the world. I think you can see, week in and week out, how much talent he's got."
Although there is a lot of depth throughout the areas, it's important to remember that for now at least, Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford are at Villa on loan. Even if those two are secured on a permanent basis, Rogers has the quality to be considered on a steady, weekly basis. More importantly, good players make each other better. Going up against good competition in training and having strong backups to contend with only brings out the best throughout the roster.
Aston Villa will never shy away from bringing in and developing talent, either via the transfer market or via the academy route under Emery and Monchi. Players like Rogers will continue to do well and showcase their abilities in this squad.
