In the aftermath of Real Madrid’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Getafe, Carlo Ancelotti took a few moments to reflect on his team’s performance and address specific players’ contributions.

While Real Madrid’s victory keeps them firmly in the La Liga title race, Ancelotti did not shy away from calling out certain aspects of the game, particularly the performance of young Endrick.

When asked about the Brazilian forward, who started the match, Ancelotti was quick to point out a crucial error in the second half.

Endrick had a golden opportunity in a one-on-one situation, but his attempted chip was poorly executed. The coach expressed his disappointment, making it clear that such mistakes are not tolerated at a club like Real Madrid.

“He can’t do these things; he is young and has to learn, but those things don’t exist in football,” Ancelotti remarked.

“He has to shoot as hard as he can. This is not a theatre club.” The manager’s frustration was evident, and he immediately substituted Endrick, bringing in Jude Bellingham shortly after the error.

Thoughts on Arda Guler

On a more positive note, Ancelotti also shared his thoughts on the performance of Arda Guler.

The Turkish midfielder, who was deployed as a midfielder, impressed the manager with his calmness on the ball and his purposeful approach to the game.

“He played well, with quality, with a sense of purpose, and a lot of calm,” Ancelotti said. It was clear that Güler’s maturity, despite his age, made a strong impression on the coach.

Copa del Rey final

With the Copa del Rey final looming, Ancelotti was asked about his tactical plans.

Although he did not give away too much, he hinted at the possibility of a 4-4-2 formation, jokingly suggesting, “it could be a 4-4-2… with six midfielders and no forwards.”

However, he stressed the importance of defensive solidity, especially in a final, but remained confident in his team’s ability to create chances when the time came.

“We will have to defend well, because it is a final. But I’m convinced we will do it, and that we’ll have our chance in attacking play.”

On Brahim Diaz

Regarding Brahim Diaz, who has been experiencing a slight dip in form, Ancelotti seemed optimistic. When asked if the Moroccan can start in the final, the manager said,

“Yes, obviously. He has come back well,” the manager stated. “He only had a few minutes against Athletic, but he was very good. And he delivered today. He played a very good game in every way.”

One of the more intriguing comments came when the manager was asked about Rodrygo’s goal-scoring drought, with the Brazilian failing to find the back of the net in the months of February, March, and April.

Ancelotti, however, remained confident in Rodrygo’s ability to deliver when it matters most. “Statistically, he has to play,” he said.

“Because if he has not scored in all this time… he usually does in these games, the very important ones. He has done it many times. I have complete confidence in him,” concluded the manager.
