Nico Williams has been revealed as the "dream" transfer target for both Arsenal and Chelsea this summer, according to a report.

The Athletic Club superstar announced himself to English audiences at Euro 2024 as he helped guide Spain to a record fourth championship, spending the remainder of last summer occupying gossip columns amid transfer links with Barcelona and the Premier League.

However, a high-profile switch never materialised for the 22-year-old winger, who has continued to hone his craft in the Basque region this term. He's produced nine goals and seven assists in 37 outings for Athletic Club.

Another impressive campaign will only further rumours regarding his future this summer and Europe's elite are all expected to be in the hunt for the insatiable forward.

Writing for GIVEMESPORT, Romano confirmed that several of the continent's big-hitters are circling Williams, including English behemoths Arsenal and Chelsea.

"Nico Williams is the dream wing target for top clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern [Munich] and let's see what happens with Barcelona," revealed the Italian journalist.

"More than one year ago, Chelsea wanted Nico Williams. For sure, they will add one more winger this summer window. You have to convince Nico, that's the main factor for these clubs."

Persuading Williams to agree to a transfer would be quite the coup for Arsenal or Chelsea, with both eager to sign attacking reinforcements soon. Injuries have highlighted the Gunners' lack of depth in wide forward areas, while the Blues also find themselves a touch short in the final third.

Chelsea's desire to sign a new winger will also hinge on their final decision regarding Jadon Sancho. They have an obligation to sign the Manchester United loanee for £25m this summer and will have to pay £5m to terminate their agreement. Mykhailo Mudryk's provisional suspension for failing a drugs test will play into their thinking, too.
