So theRangers supporters are in dreamland due to the proposed takeover of the Ibrox club/company. Unsurprisingly the news has seen their delusion take full effect as they dream about conquering the world.
In their minds the ‘proposed’ new owners are going to hand them an unlimited transfer kitty, appoint a world class manager and turn their stadium into the biggest and best in the country, whilst shifting domestic dominance to the blue side of Glasgow.

You’ve got to admire their optimism especially since they’ve seen and heard it all before, once bitten and all that.
In reality the new owners are coming into a club on its knees financially, and will be looking to steady the ship in order to make a return on their expensive investment.
There will be no open cheque book, world class manager, and no major stadia redevelopment. Not until the ship has been steadied and that has been beyond every Board that they have had since Charles Green founded the club/company in the summer of 2012. Hundreds of millions have been lost since then and all they have to show for is the Covid title and two cup final wins.

Their aim will be to model the club in a similar way as Celtic, yes of course they always have to try and replicate the champions, we are the benchmark after all. If the Bears think there is some sort of magic wand that’s going to make them instantly successful then they are going to be sorely disappointed.
So theRangers are coming again. Eat sleep repeat. Just like last season and the season before and so on. I sure will look forward to the meltdown when reality hits home, in the meantime we are getting ready to celebrate yet another title, and hopefully a domestic treble.
Many of the Celtic fan media sites are covering the proposed takeover at Ibrox in great detail while The Celtic Star has stayed well away from it. Who really cares what the outcome is? If it happens Celtic have the resources and the wherewithal to push further ahead and that can only be a good thing for our Champions League ambitions.
If you want to read about it probably the best place is over on The Celtic Blog where James Forrest has produced the most informative analysis of the saga over the past few months
If it doesn’t happen there will be the spectacle of their despair and disappointment and maybe some reality setting in that they are now among the likes of Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts and maybe Dundee United as the best of the rest but not really in Celtic’s league.
These days they are more New Firm than Old Firm.
Oh and while we are on the subject there has also been a positive response to their big move away from Casserole or whatever that ‘brand’ is called to Umbro, a real heritage name in football. Without saying too much perhaps they should have a closer look at where the influence and money behind these brands really lies.
For Celtic it’s all about Tannadice now and getting the result to kick-start another title celebration, our 13th in 14 seasons and a record breaking 55 title as Celtic becomes the first club to win 55 titles.*
Just an Ordinary Bhoy
*Rangers won 53.5 (one shared with Dumbarton) and theRangers won that Covid title a few years ago now.
