While Aston Villa are preparing for a busy month, transfer rumors are never going to be in short supply. Between the latest activity from Monchi and the hope of always upgrading the roster, fans can always have fun speculating on who to potentially add to the squad.
Although the center-back duo of Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa is one of the stronger ones in the Premier League, all positions never lack the need to add more depth. This is particularly true with the ever-growing success of the club. More winning means added and prolonged schedules in the various competitions, and injuries can happen at any time. Unai Emery will want options to turn to for when that happens and ideally manage the side to best prevent them from happening in the first place.
A name that has come up is that of Tottenham CB Cristian Romero. The Argentine reportedly has interest from a number of clubs across Europe, according to Football Transfer's Steve Kay. Some of the potential sides include Bayern Munich and Napoli.
Sometimes there is more of a reason for a player wanting to leave a club. In this case, there are equal push and pull factors for Romero leaving the Spurs and joining somewhere else. Tottenham are underachieving in what has been a frustrating season for them. Then there is the added aspect of potentially playing in a strong Bundesliga side or linking up to make a Serie A push for an Antonio Conte reunion.
Villa under Emery is just as strong of a draw. After all, not only are they competitive, but newcomers have a chance to impress and raise their stock in a competitive environment that is suitable to player needs. The Argentine could also enjoy the prospect of playing in front of countryman Emiliano Martínez. For now, there isn't anything else about an actual move in the works. Aston Villa, however, remains a strong possibility.
