Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has provided his take on the fresh drama surrounding the ‘registration case’ at La Liga rivals Barcelona.

Developments behind the scenes at the Camp Nou have of course dominated the headlines across not only Spain, but all of Europe across the day to date.

This comes after Barcelona were dealt a heavy blow.

As confirmed in a statement released by La Liga, cited by Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish football powers that be have ‘invalidated the financial fair play operation that allowed FC Barcelona to register Pau Víctor and Dani Olmo’.

As much comes after the brass in Catalunya’s capital failed to include the needed €100 million from the sale of the club’s VIP stadium seats in their latest budget.

Mere hours out from a crunch Copa del Rey showdown with Atlético Madrid, the Blaugrana’s plans moving forward have therefore been thrown into fresh disarrary.

One individual, though, eager to play the subject down ahead of this evening’s fast-approaching kick-off in Madrid, was Atlético president Enrique Cerezo.

Drawn on the latest developments at Barca during an exchange with the media (as per MD), Cerezo made use of the opportunity to throw his backing behind his side’s upcoming opponents:

“We don’t have to say anything, La Liga is the one that has to speak. Everything here is over the top. If Dani Olmo is playing, it’s because he has to. There was a ruling that said he can play, so we have to respect that. We like to watch football matches with good players, and Dani Olmo is a great player.”
