Real Madrid somehow managed to remain alive in the fight for the title race, thanks to a narrow 1-0 win over Getafe.

However, the win came with its costs, with Real Madrid notably losing two players in David Alaba and Eduardo Camavinga due to injury.

This was confirmed by coach Carlo Ancelotti in the post-match press conference.

Ancelotti confirms injury to Alaba and Camavinga

Addressing the fitness concerns surrounding the two players during the post-match presser, Ancelotti said (h/t Fabrizio Romano), “Camavinga and David Alaba have muscle injuries.”

The Italian went on to add that both players are ruled out of the upcoming Copa Del Rey final against Barcelona. “They are not expected to be ready for the game against Barcelona,” he said.

Alaba, who started the game in central defence, felt discomfort after the first half. Ironically, he was replaced by Eduardo Camavinga in the 46th minute.

Camavinga initially stepped in for Alaba in central defence. But during the final minutes of the game, he had to leave the pitch due to an injury.

During one of the challenges, Camavinga fell to the ground in an unnatural manner. The midfielder tried to continue playing but failed to continue.

Moments later, he limped off the pitch. Real Madrid, unfortunately, were not in a position to replace the Frenchman as they had run out of substitutions.

But everything suggests Camavinga and Alaba will indeed not take part in the final against Barcelona, which could prove to be a huge boost for the Catalans.

Losing both these stars should further devoid Ancelotti of his defensive options, thus making it easier for Barcelona to continue their attacking onslaught against Los Blancos.
