Manchester United are reportedly keeping close tabs on Eintracht Frankfurt bomber Hugo Ekitike who has been on sensational form this season.
The 22-year-old is a French striker who started his career at Stade Reims before moving to Paris Saint-Germain in 2022. The Ligue 1 champions splashed circa £25 million to secure the services of the big forward, but they couldn’t provide him with sufficient playing time, especially in the presence of the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Randal Kolo Muani and Ousmane Dembele amongst others.
Therefore, the French Cameroonian made the move to Frankfurt in February 2024, initially on loan before making his stay permanent last summer on a transfer worth €16 million. This season, Ekitike has been one of the finest bombers in the Bundesliga. He has already contributed with 19 goals and eight assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.

Therefore, the young striker has been attacking interest from several top suitors around Europe as one would expect, and chief among them Man United.
Earlier on Wednesday, Daily Mail journalists Chris Wheeler and Nathan Salt revealed that the Red Devils are ‘closely following’ the former PSG forward. In the afternoon, Sky Sport DE journalist Florian Plettenberg reposted the news and confirmed it with a checkmark.
This aligns with what the same journalist had posted over the past few days regarding Man Utd’s striker pursuit. He had named Ekitike as one of four bombers wanted at Carrington, with the other three being Benjamin Sesko, Victor Osimhen and finally, Ruben Amorim’s old Sporting CP pupil Viktor Gyokeres.
United’s desire to bring in a top-notch attacker is one of the worst-kept secrets in the Premier League, especially following Marcus Rashford’s departure, but it remains to be seen whether the new signing will be among the aforementioned list or an alternative solution that emerges later on.
