Revenues from the Champions League will enable Inter Milan to invest more than ever in the transfer market this summer.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight how the Nerazzurri can dream of spending big after several years of financial austerity.
It is no secret that Inter Milan’s financial situation has restricted their transfer spending in recent years.
A pandemic-era financial crisis caused the Nerazzurri to sell big name players like Achraf Hakimi, Romelu Lukaku, and Andre Onana.
And coming in the other direction, Inter have largely had to rely on low-cost or free transfer signings.
But there have been clear signs of change. Inter’s belt-tightening has served a purpose as they have steadily reduced losses over the last few years.
The Nerazzurri are now at a point where they have turned a corner.

And as the Gazzetta note, it’s not just the player sales and disciplined spending that has improved Inter’s financial spending.
Results on the pitch have also brought big revenues into the Nerazzurri’s coffers.
And above all, it has been the Champions League that has come as a huge boost.
Inter have reached the knockout rounds of Europe’s top club competition in each of the past four seasons. In the 2022-23 campaign, they reached the final.
And this campaign has seen another deep knockout run by the Nerazzurri. Wednesday’s win over Bayern Munich saw them book their place in the semifinals.
And under the new format, the Champions League is more of a cash cow than ever. Therefore, Inter have already broken their own record for revenues from the competition in a single season.
Inter Milan have already guaranteed themselves earnings of €113.5 million from the Champions League this campaign.
That can go even higher, depending on results against Barcelona in the semifinals.
As the Gazzetta notes, Inter could earn an eye-watering total in excess of €140 million if they were to actually win the Champions League for the first time since 2010.
Then there are also the incoming revenues from participation in the Club World Cup.
And considering how Inter have stabilized their financial situation, they will not need to use these revenues to simply cover losses.
On the contrary, the Gazzetta notes, Inter will have license to be ambitious in the transfer market.
This summer window promises to be the biggest-spending from Inter in quite some time.
