The agent of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has issued a new update on the striker’s future at the club amid reported interest from Real Madrid.
The Norway international is currently in the midst of a recovery process having sustained an ankle problem during the FA Cup quarter-final win away to Bournemouth and requiring further assessment in Barcelona.
Haaland also recently committed his long-term future to the Etihad Stadium by penning a new agreement through until the summer of 2034 on a reported weekly salary in the region of £400,000 – reflecting the enormous achievements set by himself since arriving in 2022.
However, the combination of full focus on the on-field commitments of Manchester City and his contractual ties to the club are not enough to keep transfer links at bay, particularly concerning long-standing admirers in Real Madrid.
Recent suggestions from Spanish media have sensationally suggested that Haaland could emerge as a transfer target for Los Blancos should a move for Vinicius Jr to Saudi Arabia be sealed in the off-season.
Now, speaking during a new interview with Meczyki – as translated and relayed by Fabrizio Romano – the Manchester City striker’s agent has commented on recent reports linking the striker once again with Real Madrid interest.
“Do you think Erling (Haaland) will ever cut himself, even having this long term contract with City, from rumours about Real Madrid? It’s always Haaland and Real Madrid in the media,” Rafaela Pimenta pointed out.
She continued, “People like to talk and there will always be rumours. I never make any comments or never address the media.”
On the subject of a possible release clause in the striker’s new 10-year Manchester City contract, Pimenta continued, “I never comment on contracts.
“Erling has all the freedom because I think when you do what you want, you know what you’re doing, you have a proper deal… you have freedom.”
Manchester City are unlikely to ever entertain offers for their superstar centre-forward during his time at the club, but would no doubt take up their usual stance of permitting an exit should that be of the player’s wishes.
A similar stance is expected to be taken on crucial number one choice goalkeeper Ederson this summer, who is believed to be open to the idea of an exit amid reignited interest from Saudi Arabia that first emerged last summer.
Manchester City were open to selling the 31-year-old during the last summer market providing that one of the potential suitors in the Middle-East would be willing to stump up an offer of £50 million.
No such offer would ultimately come and following a heart-to-heart between Pep Guardiola and the Brazil international, Ederson would remain as the number one choice for Manchester City for another campaign.
