Olympique Marseille are reportedly very interested in Borussia Dortmund's Ramy Bensebaini and would be willing to sign the player in the summer. Roberto de Zerbi's team, currently the second-best in League 1, plans to narrow the gap to the already-champions Paris Saint-Germain, and the Algerian Bensebaini is part of that strategy.
However, there has been no contact yet between the clubs, and there is nothing on Sebastian Kehl's table. At the same time, according to Patrick Berger from Sky Sports, the Black and Yellows would not be averse to selling Bensebaini after signing him on a free from Mönchengladbach in the summer of 2023.
With an underwhelming and injury-filled first season at the Signal Iduna Park in 2023/2024, Ramy Bensebaini stayed on the bench for most of that campaign while the winter signing Ian Maatsen took his place in Dortmund's starting XI. However, he bounced back this season, with more minutes (2.616) compared to his previous run (1.549) and a rise to the starting role.
But, once the left-back has turned 30 years old in April, and with his deal expiring in 2027, a sale would make sense to capitalize on Benesebaini before he arrives at his contract year by the end of next season. Also considering Daniel Svensson's recent ascension, it might be a perfect opportunity to rejuvenate Borussia Dortmund's left-back.
In those terms, a summer transfer for Ramy Bensebaini cannot be ruled out, and it would likely be the best option from both an economic and footballing perspective, even though Ramy could be a valuable depth piece for BVB.
