Inter, Milan, and Bayer Leverkusen Plans May Intertwine

Despite the competition and some reservations, Inter haven’t abandoned all hopes to sign Jonathan Tah on a Bosman move, while Bayer Leverkusen have laid eyes on Malick Thiaw to replace their stalwart.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, his performances against Italy haven’t gone unnoticed. The Nerazzurri have refrained from adding veterans since the Oaktree takeover. However, they could make an exception to address a tricky role. He’d replace either Francesco Acerbi or Stefan de Vrij and would be the top option to anchor the defense.

The colossus would still be a bargain even if he’s 29 and has robust personal demands. Barcelona have long been considered the frontrunners to land him. Liverpool and Tottenham are keen on him too, while Bayern Munich seems to have other plans, Mundo Deportivo informs.

While Inter haven’t made their call about their Tah pursuit yet, Bayer Leverkusen already know they’ll have to substitute for him and shortlisted Malick Thiaw, who has had an up-and-down stay at Milan, Bild informs (via Europa Calcio).

His contract expires in 2027, and Milan want him to make a decision next summer. His price tag is about €25M. He’d have more chances to make the 2026 World Cup squad if he transferred, as he has to fight for minutes at San Siro. Julian Nagelsmann hasn’t called him up in recent years.

Our Take Tah, Inter, and Thiaw

If the former hasn’t committed to a new side already, there’s a bidding war going on, which doesn’t help the Nerazzurri’s chances. He’d be a safer signing than most of their targets. Milan will have to decide who the keepers are in the back at some point.
