Inter dominated possession throughout but were held to very few clear openings on goal.

However, they struck with two of them in the opening 21 minutes to put clear daylight between themselves and Udinese.

Marko Arnautović struck first in the 12th minute, finishing well from a Federico Dimarco cutback after playing a role in the build-up play. It continued a fine run of form for the veteran forward, who started in place of the injured Lautoro Martínez.

He has now scored in his last three Serie A games, which have been sporadic of late.

DiMarco was also the provider for Inter's second goal, which was very similar to the first in its execution. The wing-back again cut the ball back across from the left, and this time Davide Frattesi was there to brilliantly strike with a half-volley.

It appeared as if it would be plain sailing from here for the champions, and it was until the 71st minute when the visitors struck from almost nowhere.

Oumar Solet was the scorer of a brilliant goal, taking the ball down from Yann Sommer's on the halfway line before moving his way past Inter players before firing a low strike past the Swiss keeper. It was the French defender's first goal for Udinese, and he's unlikely to forget it.

The Bianconeri, who ended up with more shots on targets than Inter, could not find an equaliser though, with Solet coming closest, and Inter held on for a crucial win.

Simone Inzaghi's side's lead at the top is now six points, and they will be hoping arch-rivals Milan can do them a massive favour against Napoli.
