Saturday night was one to remember for FC Barcelona as they defeated arch-rivals Real Madrid 3-2 to lift the Copa del Rey trophy at Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville.
The Blaugrana came back from a goal behind to secure an extra-time win over Carlo Ancelotti’s men on their way to the second title of the Hansi Flick era.
Lamine Yamal was once again a key cog for Barcelona in their win over Real Madrid as he was the architect of the first two goals, setting Pedri and Ferran Torres up.
The teenage winger perfectly summed up the spirit and attitude of this Barça team in his post-match comments as he said (h/t Fabrizio Romano):
“Even if we concede one goal, no problem. Even if we concede two goals, it’s still no problem.”
Concluding, Lamine added: “This year, they simply can’t beat us. We’ve proven that. I’m really happy. Visca Barça!”
Pau Cubarsi was one of Barcelona’s top performers of the night as he held things together at the back in a high-pressure final for 120 minutes despite being just 18 years old.

Speaking to the media after Barça’s victory, the young La Masia defender said (h/t Mundo Deportivo):
“The legs are heavy, yes, but the badge is more important and we had to fight until the end. And we were rewarded by fighting until the end.”
Talking about the strength of this team built by Hansi Flick this season, he added: “It’s indescribable. It’s a young group, we gave everything. It was tough. We played a great game.”
Eric Garcia, who came on as a substitute for Pedri in the first half of extra time, played his part by providing fresh legs and energy in the dying stages of the game.
Sharing his thoughts after the victory at La Cartuja, Eric said (h/t MD): “As a player, I had never experienced anything like this. The atmosphere was amazing. We already knew it because a Clasico is always a different game, there’s a lot of rivalry.”
The centre-back admitted his team had “suffered” in the second half, “but in games like this it’s what you have to do.” Finally, he pointed out: “In extra time everything was wide open and Kounde gave us the victory”.
