The Whites' hierarchy are reportedly looking at options to replace the German.
Michael Bridges and Stuart Dallas have called upon the Leeds United hierarchy to see the wood for the trees and keep Daniel Farke as the first-team manager for next season, following reports that they are considering making a change in the dugout's personnel for the club's first season back in the Premier League.
The elation and joy that has come over the past two weeks for the Whites and their supporters has come with a slightly overcast feel to it because of the uncertainty around Farke's future.
A report from the Daily Mail, less than 48 hours on from Leeds confirming their return to the top flight, stated that the club were considering replacing the German due to his previous record in the Premier League when he was manager of Norwich.
Since then, The Guardian have stated that Giovanni Van Bronkhorst, Roger Schmidt and Davide Ancelotti are all under consideration to become the next Leeds boss. However, The Athletic have themselves reported that Farke is more likely than not to remain in a job come next season.
The 48-year-old guided his side to a 4-0 win on Monday evening against play-off contenders Bristol City. The result put them back to the top of the Championship and now have the title's destiny in their hands.
Prior to the start of the game, Bridges and Dallas, two former Leeds players, made it clear, on the Sky Sports broadcast, what they felt of the current boss and the stories that suggested he could be on borrowed time.
Bridges first said: "The team behind the team is fantastic, because the culture that I've seen behind the studio telly, to go and do that again after missing out in the play-off finals last year, to go again and not have a hangover and give the boys the belief to play his style.
"Because there's a player here in Junior Firpo who was on the outer. This man said 'I want him in the attacking sense. I know what Junior can bring to this team.' They're the two best full-backs in the division, for me, without a shadow of a doubt.
"Let's not forget as well, he lost three of his best players from last season too," Dallas added. "He lost Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray, Georginio Rutter, and to do what he has done this year, again, he deserves so much credit.
"I think it would be really harsh (to sack Farke). I can see why fans are having their reservations about him, because of his record with Norwich when he did go up, but I don't know."
The north-eastern forward then reiterated the tough hand he was dealt the previous times he was in the Premier League with Norwich City: "He wasn't given much money in his first year in the Premier League with Norwich," Bridges claimed.
"So if the 49ers and that franchise have got this dream that they want to continue - obviously, I want Daniel Farke to be at the helm - but you've got to go and back the manager."
Even the most successful teams will always have some form of succession plan in place just in case things really turned upside down. If that's all that Leeds are doing - lining up options in case Farke's top-tier trend continues - then fine, there's no harm in that. If, on the other hand, they are seriously considering replacing him, then that would be a mistake.
The relationships and culture he has built in that dressing room, which he has been highly praised for, would instantly evaporate if he were gotten rid of this summer. It'd feel like such an abrupt scratching of the record for such an unnecessary reason. Planning is fine, potential recklessness is not.
