Manchester City are considering a swoop for Paris Saint-Germain forward Mahamadou Sangaré and a possible loan to City Football Group club Troyes, as per a new report.
Hugo Viana – who will take over from Txiki Begiristain as Manchester City sporting director in the coming months – officially began work in Manchester this week after attending the recent goalless Manchester derby at Old Trafford with officials from the Etihad Stadium.
Viana is understood to be conducting a ruthless assessment of current crop of players at Pep Guardiola’s disposal as the Portuguese prepares to take over from Begiristain and launch a new era at the Etihad Stadium.
Kevin De Bruyne announced last week that this will be his final season in a Manchester City shirt, with four-in-a-row Premier League champions are eyeing a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, who is valued at a staggering €150 million by the Bundesliga club.
City are set to undergo a significant squad revamp at the end of the season and that will intertwine with the departure of several first-team stars who are past their prime and could be moved on by the 2023 treble winners.
The FA Cup semi-finalists, who currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League table, have relied worryingly heavily on Erling Haaland to deliver the goods in front of goal this season after Julian Alvarez was sold to Atletico Madrid for £82 million last summer.
Haaland picked up an ankle injury in City’s 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final win away at Bournemouth two weeks ago and despite the emergence of January signing Omar Marmoush, Guardiola will be desperate to bolster his frontline with a like-for-like backup to Haaland in the summer.
As reported by RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins and relayed by Get Football News France, Manchester City are considering a summer move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Mahamadou Sangaré, who is out of contract with the French giants at the end of June.
Sangaré has impressed for PSG’s academy ranks since joining the club from Montrouge in 2023 and having attracted suitors from the German top-flight, the 18-year-old forward is also being eyed by Manchester City.
Should they win the race to land the Mali-born centre forward, Manchester City will look to loan Sangaré out to City Football Group club ESTAC Troyes for the Frenchman to gain meaningful regular first-team football experience before potentially joining hands with Guardiola and his first-team in Manchester.
