Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has reportedly put a temporary halt on his involvement at the club in order to avoid falling foul of UEFA's multi-club ownership rules.

The Greek businessman also holds a majority stake in Olympiacos, who have already secured the league title for the current season.

As a result, they are set to compete in the Champions League next season and with Forest also very much still in contention to join them, it poses a problem for Marinakis.

In order to avoid potentially breaching UEFA's rules on multi-club ownership, the billionaire has ceased his involvement with Forest for the time being.

Moves have already been made with the club's parent company, NF Football Investments, with Marinakis no longer listed as a significant controlling stakeholder in the club, being replaced by Pittville One Limited.

This is reportedly being used as a vehicle for Marinakis to oversee the fortunes of both clubs without causing any issues with UEFA regulations.

Forest currently sit sixth in the Premier League table but could move back up to third on Thursday night with a win over Brentford at home.
