Fabio Paratici is bound to become the new Milan sporting director, provided the parties clear the final hurdles without any surprise. They shook hands during the recent meeting, but the announcement won’t arrive soon, Corriere della Sera informs.
The Rossoneri and the former Juventus and Tottenham exec have found common ground on basically every aspect and his contract. There’s a legal matter pending, though. The official could face trial in the ordinary justice system for the infractions that led to Juventus’ penalization. His prospective new team wants to insert a clause to get out of his deal if he’s found guilty. But the whole thing might end up being statute-barred.
Milan and Paratici also need to finalize the staff. The exec asked to hire Lorenzo Giani, who’s currently at Sampdoria, to help him with the scouting. It is currently helmed by technical director Geoffrey Moncada. He is under contract until 2026 and is esteemed by CEO Giorgio Furlani.
The top official didn’t confirm the appointment but hinted at it before the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals (via Ansa).
“We haven’t decided or sealed the deal with anybody. I won’t comment on roles or persons, but we’re gearing up to improve our sports area. We’re not happy with this year’s results. Zlatan Ibrahimovic seemed absent from the outside, but he wasn’t. We’ve always been in touch and worked together in total harmony. The positions, personalities, and work methods are clear. He’ll remain part of this project. Nothing has changed.”
There’s a chance they’ll wait until July, when his suspension will be over, to make it official, but it’s fine as long as they start focusing on the new coach and signings right away.
