Alex Jimenez’s season has not gone how it could have done, especially with Theo Hernandez’s performances fluctuating. Nevertheless, AC Milan still believe heavily in the Spaniard.

After arriving last summer, there was a talk about what role Jimenez would have within the Milan ranks this season. So, when Zlatan Ibrahimovic stated that the Spaniard would be Theo’s deputy, there was a lot of hype about the potential season the youngster may have.

However, this has not been the case.

Whilst the youngster has been used occasionally in place of the Frenchman, it has not been very frequent and most of his minutes have come elsewhere – which is why the club are looking to the mercato for a replacement, rather than the former Real Madrid man.

It is, in fact, the Real Madrid link that has been the most prevalent discussion about Jimenez this season, and this afternoon, Fabrizio Romano states that the two clubs will sit down shortly to discuss the terms of the purchase agreement from last summer.

Whilst the defender joined permanently, Los Blancos retain a keen interest in him due to some attractive buy-back clauses, and these clauses are the topic for the meeting.

Milan have no interest in losing the defender, so want to discuss new terms, however, Real have ‘no plans to lose control’ of the situation. A difficult one, indeed.
