Oliver Goodbrand appears set to sign for Newcastle United.

The left-back set to reject professional terms at Glasgow Rangers and instead commit himself to Newcastle United.

The Daily Record are the ones with the exclusive and they say that their information is that; ‘Newcastle United are closing in on a deal for Rangers’ rising star Oliver Goodbrand.’

The exclusive saying that their information is that whilst the 16 year old can sign professional forms with Rangers this season, they understand that instead he will choose Newcastle.

Development compensation would be due to Rangers if Newcastle United were to sign the highly regarded teenage defender.

The Daily Record report that  Oliver Goodbrand is; ‘Highly-rated at Rangers and also got B team action last season when he was just 15.’

Unlike under Mike Ashley when the academy was starved of resources, Newcastle United are now investing throughout the club, with special focus on the potential stars of the future.

The club devoting a lot of investment into young players and recruiting players both locally, throughout England, over the border in Scotland, as well as overseas.
