For the first time in their history, all three Designated Players scored in a match for Orlando City SC.

All three Designated Players scored for Orlando City SC in their near-shutout of D.C. United. It was a 4-1 victory. Scoring three of the four goals were winger Marco Pasalic, forward Luis Muriel, and midfielder Martin Ojeda. This is the first time in club history that all three Designated Players (DPs) scored in a match.

Defender Alex Freeman also scored in the match.

With all DPs banking shots on goal, Head Coach Oscar Pareja said this confirms that these players are making good on the club’s commitment to them. With their production in matches as the one against D.C. United, Orlando City may count on them to realize what the coach termed their final and biggest price.

Parjea means that their offensive leadership will drive the club into the MLS post-season.

He said this is the result of their work with the team to prepare for the match. As the 2025 season progresses, all the players must work to continuously elevate their performance. With each match, they must demonstrate a higher level of execution.

Pareja confirmed that he saw that new level from the DPs in their match.

The DPs were sought for the roster because of the qualities they brought to the Orlando game besides their scoring ability. So, in addition to their goals, each of the DPs contributed vital components that ensured the victory.

Pasalic made three key passes and a cross. Muriel contributed four key passes. Ojeda tallied two crosses and another two key passes.

The league established a Designated Player rule that allows teams to sign three players to be considered outside their salary cap. This allows MLS teams to compete for strong players in the international market. Teams may also use allocation money to work outside their salary cap.

Supporters should expect a strong, unified effort from the entire Orlando City SC squad to drive far into the MLS post-season. The team’s Designated Players will continue their drive to this goal.
