Benjamin Pavard relished his first Inter goal, especially against his former club Bayern Munich, and looks forward to the Champions League semi-final with Barcelona. ‘We won’t set limits.’

Harry Kane had scored with an angled drive to level the tie 2-2 on aggregate, after the 2-1 first leg result, but within nine minutes it was turned on its head by Lautaro Martinez and Pavard.

Eric Dier’s looping header made it 2-2 on the night, but the Nerazzurri squeezed through 4-3 on aggregate.

Curiously, Pavard had never scored before in the Inter jersey and he broke that duck against his former club.

“The goal was very exciting, I am very happy, but above all for the team, who played really well defensively and achieved something great,” Pavard told Amazon Prime Video Italia.

“It was not easy, but we knew that was going to be the case. We worked really hard for this result.”

Now Inter will face Barcelona in the semi-final, with the first leg in Catalunya on April 30 and the decider at San Siro on May 6.

The Nerazzurri are still on track for the Treble, as they are also top of the Serie A table and are set to play Milan in the Coppa Italia semi-final next week.

“We won’t set limits on ourselves, because seeing as we got this far, we want to keep going. We’re a great squad with wonderful staff who have been working really well for several years now,” continued Pavard.

“Next up we need to focus on Serie A, as Napoli are battling with us for the Scudetto. The game with Bologna will be very tough, we need to win there too.”

Due to the packed fixture list, Inter will be on the field on Easter Sunday against Bologna at the Stadio Dall’Ara.
