Former Real Madrid star Marcelo has taken to social media, to reveal his delight with the club’s Champions League progression.

Real Madrid, of course, are fresh off booking their spot in the quarter-finals of European football’s premiere club competition.

This comes owing to a penalty shootout victory over Diego Simeone’s Atlético on Wednesday night.

After the two sides could not be separated across a full 210 minutes of football, proceedings at the Metropolitano were decided from 12 yards.

And it was the visitors who ultimately held their nerve, to keep alive hopes of retaining their Champions League crown.

With their side’s latest triumph having come on the grandest stage in the most dramatic fashion against a direct rival, Real Madrid’s supporters were in understandably jubilant mood post-match on Wednesday.

And as alluded to above, joining such fans in providing his response to Los Merengues’ derby victory in the early hours of Thursday was a legendary figure at the club.

Taking to his official ‘X’ account, ex-defender Marcelo wrote:

‘I tell you one thing… never doubt REAL MADRID’
