Last Tuesday, FC Barcelona advanced to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League 2024-25 and achieved something they had not been able to do in the last six years.
The Catalans won over Borussia Dortmund with a 5-3 scoreline on aggregate. While this advancement to the penultimate stage of the competition is definitely good news for the Blaugranes, not everyone was happy with the second leg of the quarter-final tie.
Barcelona actually lost their first game of 2025 against Dortmund in this second leg, and several players expressed their disappointment with the result of the match, even though they got their objective of reaching the semi-finals.
However, there was no one more disappointed than the Blaugrana coach Hansi Flick, as Mundo Deportivo reports that he was very angry by the time the match ended.
Even though the German tactician hid his anger in the post-match press conference, he had left Signal Iduna Park in great anger. The main cause of this anger was that he had already told his players beforehand not to rely on their advantage from the first leg, and to put on a good show for their fans in the second leg as well.
However, this was not exactly the case on the pitch, as Borussia Dortmund were given the hope of a comeback. This happened particularly in the 78th minute, as Julian Brandt put the ball into the back of the net to make the scoreline 4-1. However, VAR intervened, and the goal was fortunately ruled out for offside.
Flick was not happy that his Barcelona team had given too many chances to Dortmund on the night. Furthermore, he was also dejected for losing to an old acquaintance, Niko Kovac, on his home soil of Germany.
All these factors caused Flick to get very angry at the end of the match, and now he is expected to turn the screw on his team ahead of the upcoming league games against Celta Vigo and Mallorca.
