This is certainly one of the stranger transfer rumours we’ve heard in a while.
Catalan paper Sport are connecting Mykhailo Mudryk with a move to Sevilla.
They say that he could be their version of cross-town rivals Betis’ deal for Antony – bringing in an expensive Premier League flop winger and rehabilitating them. Antony has hit the ground running since his January move to Spain, and looks like he may have found a solution that helps him, Man U and Betis.
If Chelsea could do the same with Mudryk it would be a huge coup, but there are some major obstacles in their way.

What’s odd about all this? Well, Mudryk is currently suspended after failing a doping test while on duty with Ukraine in late 2024, and while we don’t yet know the result of the B same, in all likelihood it will show the same result and Mudryk will be banned for a long period.
There’s still some chance that he could appeal the decision and be able to play in the interim, but given how up in the air everything is, it still feels desperately unlikely that Sevilla will take the risk and the potential legal entanglements of any deal.
How can you squad plan when you’ve got a player who faces a suspension at any moment? It might make sense if he was a game changing player who could take them to the next level, but in fact he’s struggled mightily at Chelsea means that surely nobody is going to take a risk, even in the unlikely event there’s a chance for them to do so.
What needs to happen, above all, is some clarity in Mudryk’s case. It’s not fair to him or the club to be left in suspense.
