Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has received the Cyrille Regis Award at the Football Black List awards.

Named after the pioneering former West Bromwich Albion, Coventry City and England forward, Shaw is the latest recipient of the award which is carefully chosen by the Regis family.

The award recognises outstanding contribution to the Black Community and football over the past year, with the Jamaican honoured at a special event at Emirates Stadium on Thursday evening.

Shaw enjoyed an outstanding 2024, being named the PFA, FWA and WSL Player of the Year while also becoming the first City player to win the league’s Golden Boot award.

Named in the WSL Team of the Year for a second successive season, the Jamaican also became the Blues’ all-time top scorer when she netted in our 3-1 win over Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium in March 2024.

But Shaw has also proven an inspirational figure off the pitch, particularly with her response to receiving vile online racist abuse in January 2025.

On her return to action against Leicester in the FA Cup one week later, the Jamaican celebrated scoring City’s third and final goal in a 3-1 win with the Black Power salute at the Joie Stadium.

It was a powerful message, and one which deservedly received widespread plaudits from the football world and beyond.

And her actions both on and off the pitch have since been recognised in the latest Black List awards.

Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate Bunny on receiving the Cyrille Regis award.
