Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on Southampton forward Paul Onuachu to bolster his attacking options at Besiktas, according to Turkish outlet Fotomac.
Southampton are destined for relegation, and clubs will look to poach their top players when they drop into the Championship.
Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi has scheduled talks with Southampton co-owner Rasmus Ankersen to discuss their interest in Onuachu.
He will enter the final year of his contract at St Mary’s this summer,
With relegation looming, he is not keen to extend his stay. If Southampton intend to cash in, this summer is their best opportunity.
The Nigerian striker did not play much under Russell Martin, but he has featured more since he was sacked.
Solskjaer views Onuachu as the type of striker his attack desperately needs, but he is not his first-choice target.
Besiktas have also been monitoring Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, but their chances of signing him are minimal.
Delap has been linked with several Premier League clubs and he is unlikely to consider a move to one of the lower-ranked leagues in Europe.
Onuachu previously excelled on loan at Trabzonspor in 2023/24, scoring 17 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions.
His sale could boost Southampton’s transfer kitty as they strive to bounce back from a miserable season in the Premier League.
