James Beattie has addressed the soon-to-be departing players that they can exit Southampton if they want but they must maintain their Premier League reputation.
In Southampton's camp, news of the confirmed Premier League drop has acted as a turning point for the Saints. Before, the entire bulky squad was playing for a single collective motive but those plans have been fragmented with varying asterisks for different players.
Certainly, it's wise to assume that the transfer market phase has virtually begun at St. Mary's. Honestly, Southampton wanted that part of the year to commence quicker than usual but not in this way where their biggest difference-makers are beginning to distance themselves from the club.
In a surprising turn of events, these chaotic developments don't worry Southampton's clinical finisher James Beattie.
Well, Beattie has himself swapped Southampton for a hefty Premier League move in his career, so, he isn't opposed to players exiting as long as they meet his standards. Don't worry, it's not an improbable ask such as reaching near Beattie's scoring charts.
Instead, the benchmarks are about maintaining their proven top-flight abilities which will aptly be brought into considerations by concerned teams who will wish to proceed signing any of them.
As quoted by the Daily Echo, Beattie said: "Being a former player, I would think if your club's going to go down and your aim is to move or to play in the Premier League, then you would try and play better."
Beattie has attempted to spark some determination into the squad but these kind of motivating calls have often gone unanswered in the overall season.
Yet, the newly added theme of a change of scenery can be crucial and might uplift the first team bunch to put up some respectable performances to call time on their Southampton stay.
