Stan Collymore thinks the two players should swap clubs.

Alexander Isak sign for Liverpool and Darwin Nunez sign for Newcastle United.

Stan Collymore claiming this would benefit both clubs…

Stan Collymore talking about Alexander Isak and Darwin Nunez to Caught Offside – 24 March 2025:

“I think the Alexander Isak to Liverpool rumours are not going to go away anytime soon, and Newcastle may need to sell because of FFP – especially if they do not qualify for the Champions League.

“And I think Isak would do very well at Liverpool, and it could be one to watch.

“Isak would be a massive upgrade on Nunez.

His all-round play is what Liverpool need in a striker, and in my opinion, I think it could benefit Newcastle to take Nunez.

“There is certainly a player in there, but he is not someone that can handle a player for a club like Liverpool that brings so much scrutiny and pressure.

“He would be a really good fit at Newcastle, and their supporters would love him.”

Alexander Isak is widely regarded as the best striker in the Premier League and indeed, best striker in the world by many, he scores for fun at Newcastle United, with 23 goals in domestic competitions so far this season.

As for Darwin Nunez, despite playing for the dominant team this season, he has managed six goals this season for Liverpool in all domestic competitions.

It is always the same with these fans and ex-players of rival clubs who would like to see Newcastle’s players sign for them, they put forward straight swap deals, or part-exchange swap deals, where Newcastle United are supposed to be happy to lose one of their best players and take a rubbish one or more from the opposition club in return, often players who can’t even get a game.

Stan Collymore isn’t the brightest and claiming that FFP/PSR could force Newcastle United to sell Alexander Isak? United have gone through the tough times/windows, the last three transfer windows seeing not a single new first team contender introduced as they needed to balance off the PSR angle, having had no choice but to invest in an essential sizeable group of new signings after the state Ashley and Bruce left the club in. However, having gone through these three tough transfer windows, Newcastle United have zero PSR pressures this coming summer, they don’t need to sell anybody they don’t want to. Instead Eddie Howe will be able to bring in a number of new first team contenders AND safe to say, none of those new faces will be Darwin Nunez!

Interesting as well to see what the genius who is Stan Collymore was saying about Alexander Isak two years ago, suggesting Isak wasn’t good enough to play centre-forward and that Eddie Howe would be looking to bring in another striker to play ahead of Alexander Isak…

Stan Collymore talking about Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson back on 8 February 2023:

“I’m not convinced either of them are good enough to lead the Magpies’ attack on their own.

“They both have their own attributes to offer, but I’m just not sure either player is the type to wear the iconic number nine shirt and bag 20-plus goals a season.

“Isak, especially, looks the type who needs to play alongside someone else.

“He needs to bulk up over the summer too.

“He looks a little bit too lean at the moment to be a leading lone striker in the notoriously physical league that is the Premier League.

“If Newcastle do qualify for Europe next season, which is looking likely, that would obviously mean they need a bigger squad with multiple options and I don’t think either Wilson or Isak would be Howe’s preferred forward.
