Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has once again insisted he will not discuss his future at the club this summer in the aftermath of his winning goal against Leicester City.

Alexander-Arnold made his return from injury as a substitute in Sunday's 1-0 win, firing home the winning goal just five minutes after his introduction and sparking wild celebrations which have left some fans believing he could still opt to sign a new contract at Anfield and snub interest from Real Madrid.

The academy graduate was, unsurprisingly, quizzed on his future after the final whistle, but he was in no mood to give anything away as he instead focused on celebrating a win which has moved Liverpool perhaps just a matter of days away from winning the Premier League title.

"I said all season I'm not going to speak on my situation or comment on details but days like today are special," he told Sky Sports. "Scoring goals, winning games, being close to winning titles. Special moments that will live with me forever."

He continued: "Virgil [van Dijk] told me to soak it in. The away fans are always outstanding. They have pushed us every game into the final minute, and that happened again today. As much as we do it for ourselves and our families, we do it for the fans, too. The least they deserve after spending all that money is to see us give 100% on the pitch. It's very special.

"We're so close to winning the league now - one win away, very close. [The goal] was a very special moment."

Manager Arne Slot urged fans to simply enjoy the moment and challenged critics who questioned Alexander-Arnold's commitment to the club in the wake of news of a possible agreement with Madrid.

"Let the headlines be his great goal and not his contract situation," Slot said.

"What I can say is, it would be ridiculous if someone argues about his commitment for his club because of the work rate he put in to be back today and make such an important goal, and all the work he's done for his club in all these years that he's here. No one should, in my opinion, argue his commitment to this club."
