Included in his dozen choices are three from Newcastle United.

This follows the dominant 3-0 victory over Ipswich Town at St James’ Park

Troy Deeney explains why he has picked out this NUFC trio for his Premier League team of the week, then the full eleven (twelve) are listed below:

Kieran Trippier (Newcastle):

“He was excellent, assured, calm and quality on the ball.

“At the ripe old age of 34, he is still showing that it’s necessary to have experience in the side.

“He helped Newcastle to manage the game when they went 2-0 up.

“He showed quality for two of the goals – standing a cross up for Dan Burn and also his corner for Newcastle’s third was magnificent.”

Dan Burn (Newcastle):

“Burn is the magic man of Newcastle, he just keeps on going.

“Every time you think his story is doing to drop off, he just keeps getting better.

“Burn had a real ding-dong with Liam Delap but had the Ipswich forward in his back pocket and then also scored a goal.”

Alexander Isak (Newcastle):

“He could have scored four on the day.

His movement and link-up play is excellent.

“This guy is the complete striker in world football.”

I think Kieran Trippier was definitely man of the match, a quality performance and getting those two assists.

Dan Burn was good at the back and got that important second goal that helped toward giving Newcastle United an extra edge on goal difference as well as points, in comparison to Forest, Chelsea and Villa.

Always difficult for strikers when an opposition are set up so defensively, which was the case when Ipswich had 11 and then 10 men on the pitch. Coolly scored his penalty and brilliant skill took him past Johnson and earned the Ipswich player his second yellow and a red, when getting Isak in a bear hug.
