Manchester United’s immediate focus in the transfer market is likely to be recruiting a striker given Rasmus Hojlund’s dismal form this season.

The Dane has a meagre three Premier League goals while his overall play has left a lot to be desired. Which is why Ruben Amorim wants him gone in the summer.

Initially the head coach wanted to reunite with Viktor Gyokeres but the Sporting CP striker wants to play in the Champions League, something that is not guaranteed at Old Trafford next summer.

Victor Osimhen subsequently became top priority with the Nigerian open to moving to Manchester even if the Red Devils failed to win the Europa League this season but his wage demands were considered significant.

Osimhen agrees personal terms

Which is why there were murmurs of an impending switch to Saudi Arabia with long-term admirers Chelsea also leaving the race as a result.

In some great news for fans, Turkish journalist Serdar Ali Çelikler has claimed that United have agreed personal terms with the Napoli ace with all that is left to be thrashed out is the final fee between both clubs.

“Victor Osimhen has reached an agreement with Manchester United. But there is also the club side of the matter,” the journalist said on a podcast.

The Nigeria international has a release clause worth €75 million but the Serie A giants are prepared to offer the 20-time English league champions a discount.

Napoli ready to sell

Juventus are also long-term admirers but the Naples outfit have no intention to sell to a direct rival which further strengthened United’s cause.

His loan club Galatasaray are also eager to try and hold on to him but are unlikely to win the race. Osimhen has 29 goals and six assists in 34 games across all competitions.

Amorim will be delighted with this update but the chances of the move actually panning out will depend on United’s Europa League fate.

Which is why United have kept backup options like Liam Delap and Jean-Philippe Mateta ready just in case things go south.
