Paris Saint-Germain will head back to the French capital with a slim advantage after edging Arsenal 1–0 on Tuesday night at Emirates Stadium in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal.

Ousmane Dembélé scored the game’s only goal just four minutes in, finishing off a move he started himself. After feeding Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Dembélé sprinted into the box, and Kvaratskhelia found him again with a clever outside-of-the-foot pass. Dembélé buried the chance with a low shot that clipped the post on its way in.

Arsenal looked to have drawn level later in the match, but VAR stepped in to disallow the goal, ensuring PSG take the lead into the return leg at Parc des Princes.

The Gunners will need to overcome a 1-0 deficit on the road against PSG while also trying to contain a Parisian team that could hit another gear. Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard stated to CBS Sports his confidence that they can turn it around at Parc des Princes for the second leg.

“We wanted to win here [on Tuesday] and get off to a better start,” Ødegaard said. “But at the same time, we have to still be convinced that we can turn it around. We have to take the lessons from today, learn from this game, analyze it, and make sure we bounce back in the second leg. I think that’s the feeling in this one now.”

Ødegaard also mentioned that in the previous round, they were able to get a result on the road against Real Madrid.

“I think we’ve shown here [on Tuesday] that it’s going to be tight,” Ødegaard added. “It’s two really good and fine margins, as you said. Also, we’ve done it before in the Bernabéu. We have to take that.”
