Here's how Saturday's action unfolded...

Liverpool edge narrow win in Brighton

Scorers: Smith 2’, Kiernan 43’, Agyemang 48'

Olivia Smith wasted no time in putting Liverpool ahead, firing home inside the opening two minutes with a superb touch and finish after being picked out in the box by Ceri Holland.

Leanne Kiernan doubled Liverpool's lead before half time after Brighton were caught playing out from the back, but it wasn’t all positive for the visitors as Smith was forced off following a challenge from Poppy Pattinson.

Brighton were handed a lifeline early in the second half as substitute Kiko Seike delivered an inch-perfect cross to the back post, where Michelle Agyemang slotted it past Rachael Laws.

Liverpool, though, managed to hold onto their slender lead to secure a crucial three points.

Manchester United held by West Ham

There was little to write home about in the opening 45 minutes as neither side was able to break the deadlock at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

United came closest to scoring in the first half when Celin Bizet rattled the crossbar, while the hosts failed to register a single attempt on target.

It was a similar story after the break, with Grace Clinton going closest for United, but her shot from the edge of the area drifted wide.

Marc Skinner's side remain third in the table, but Manchester City in fourth can close the gap to just five points with a victory over Everton on Sunday.
