Scorers: Vavro 58'; Malen 25', Beier 28', Brandt 30'
Three goals in five first half minutes ensured that Borussia Dortmund picked up all three points against Wolfsburg, ending a run of three successive draws.
The Bundesliga giants began the game on the front foot and deservedly took the lead just after the midway point of the first half as Donyell Malen acrobatically turned home from a corner.
It opened the floodgates at the Volkswagen Arena, as Maximilian Beier ran onto a through ball from Julian Brandt to smash home a second.
Two minutes later, it was roles reversed as Beier set up Brandt to seemingly put the game to bed inside half an hour.
Wolfsburg were a different side after the interval though, and pulled one back just before the hour mark, before Pascal Gross saw red four minutes later to leave Dortmund nervously clinging on.
But despite heavy Wolfsburg pressure, they could not find a second goal to make it a true contest, and some stout defending from the Black and Yellow saw them navigate their way to a crucial three points.
