The former player had endured a tough spell after succeeding Steve Morison earlier in the campaign, with the 1-1 draw with Wigan yesterday, where the visitors equalised deep into stoppage time, meaning they have now failed to win in eight in the league.
That has left the Bluebirds just one place above the relegation zone, so it’s perhaps no surprise the call was made to part ways with Hudson.
And, here we look at THREE candidates the Welsh side should be considering to replace Hudson…
Neil Warnock
We’ll start with the obvious one.
Warnock was linked with the role earlier this month and as a short-term fix he could be exactly what they need. There’s no getting away from the fact that Cardiff are in a relegation battle and dropping to the third tier would be a catastrophic blow for all connected to the club.
So, if they want an experienced manager to help them out of this mess, former favourite Warnock would be a clear solution.
Chris Wilder
Even though he struggled at Middlesbrough, Wilder still has a good reputation after the work he did with Sheffield United.
He will feel like he has a point to prove after the way things went on Teesside and Wilder would organise this team and make them harder to play against, which is so important right now.
Given his pedigree, you’d have to think Wilder will be spoken to by the Cardiff board.

Leam Richardson
Cardiff’s position, combined with the fact that risky appointments in Morison and Hudson didn’t work, means they are sure to go for someone with experience.
Therefore, Richardson is another attractive option. The work he did with Wigan was hugely impressive overall and he has shown he can work on a budget and improve players, which is crucial in this situation.
