An insight into the potentially devastating financial impact set to be felt by Barcelona in the case of Dani Olmo moving on has today been provided.

This, of course, comes with the deadline for the player’s La Liga registration for the 2nd half of the campaign having now technically come and passed.

Olmo, for his part, is therefore fully within his rights to activate a clause in his contract, signed last summer, to depart Catalunya’s capital as a free agent.

Barcelona are continuing to work tirelessly behind the scenes in an effort to ensure that this does not prove to be the case, confident of ultimately finding a solution.

In the case of such endeavours coming up short, however, the consequences will be dire…

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Wednesday provided an insight into the potential financial impact behind the scenes at the Camp Nou.

Should Olmo choose to move on this month, he would still be entitled to the full wage packet outlined in his contract, all the way through the summer of 2030.

On top of this, Barca would be forced to pay the full fee agreed with RB Leipzig for the Spanish international’s signing.

Not only that, but, despite this agreement having been based around the €48 million sum being paid in installments over the course of six years, the Blaugrana would need to fully reimburse Leipzig by the end of this season.

This would mean an extra €40 million added to the club’s expenditure for the year ahead.
