Robert Lewandowski started this season in a blazing fashion for Barcelona, and despite him slowing down in the last few weeks, he was still able to end 2024 as the top scorer in the top 5 European leagues.

Hansi Flick and Blaugrana fans will be hoping that he can recover his form in this second half of the season, but even if he does, the Catalan club will continue to look for a long-term replacement of the Polish forward as he is already 36 years of age, and does not have many years left to play at the highest level.

Thus, the Blaugranes have already been linked with several players for this purpose, and one that has reportedly impressed the Barcelona Sporting Department in particular is the Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres. The Sporting CP striker started this year in an incredible fashion as he scored a hat-trick in the 4-4 draw against Guimaraes.

Owing to such good performances, he is quite high in demand among the top European clubs, and one such club that is particularly looking to sign him is the Premier League side Manchester United, where Gyokeres’ former manager Ruben Amorim is in charge.

However, according to Diario AS, the Swede’s agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, recently met him, and the player clearly told him of his intention to complete this season with his current side.

While this will be bad news for United, this will be an encouraging sign for Barcelona, who are looking to sign him in the next summer transfer window. They have recently returned to the 1:1 rule, which can help them in such a possible operation, but it remains to be seen whether Gyokeres and Lewandowski can exist and thrive in the same team.
