Following on from their impressive 6-nil win over Ipswich Town, Manchester City is now preparing for a crucial UEFA Champions League fixture against PSG. It is a huge fixture for both City and PSG. Pep Guardiola’s side sit 22nd in the UEFA Champions League league phase table. Luis Enrique’s side sit 25th. With both sides desperate to finish in the top 24 of the standings a huge fixture awaits. Ahead of tomorrow’s match, the world champions have trained, and a new report indicates that a host of City players have failed to train earlier today.
Joe Bray has reported for Manchester Evening News that a host of City’s players didn’t train earlier today. Bray names Kyle Walker, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake, Matheus Nunes, Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, Rico Lewis, Jeremy Doku, Oscar Bobb and Matheus Nunes as players who failed to train in the opening 15 minutes of City’s training session today which was open to the media. It remains to be seen if that was a decision by Pep Guardiola to play mind games ahead of tomorrow’s match or if the players are in doubt for the PSG fixture.
In the case of Kyle Walker, he appears poised to complete a move to AC Milan in the coming days. John Stones and Nathan Ake both missed the Ipswich Town match due to injury. Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Matheus Nunes, Josko Gvardiol and Jeremy Doku all started at Portman Road. Rico Lewis came off the bench late in City’s win. Oscar Bobb is on the comeback trail from a fractured leg so it is doubtful that he would be available for tomorrow’s match.
An update on the status of Manchester City’s squad is expected when Pep Guardiola faces the media later today. The hope is that City have the majority of their squad available for the must-win clash with PSG.
