Manchester City take on Everton on Boxing Day at the Etihad in another crucial Premier League fixture. Pep Guardiola’s side will be aiming to get back on track with a victory against Sean Dyche’s side. But a tough test awaits the Premier League champions. There are still several City players who are under injury clouds heading into the game. Pep Guardiola has provided an update on the availability of John Stones, Matheus Nunes and Ederson ahead of his team’s clash with Everton.

Guardiola was asked about Stones’ status during his pre-game press conference. When asked if Stones could be available for the match. Stones was substituted at halftime of City’s defeat to Aston Villa. Guardiola said: “I didn’t talk with the doctors, but if he could not play the second half at Villa Park, it is because he wasn’t ready. We’ll see.

On the condition of Matheus Nunes and Ederson, Guardiola told the media: “At the moment, I don’t know. We train today and we train tomorrow night, and then we stay here and then play on Boxing Day. Tonight and tomorrow, they will be with their families. Tomorrow night they will be here. Hopefully, they want to be here – it is our job.

It would be a massive boost for Manchester City if John Stones, Matheus Nunes and Ederson could feature against Everton. With a busy Christmas and New Year schedule ahead Pep Guardiola will want as many players available as possible. Another player to watch for is Nathan Ake. He made a surprise return to City’s bench for the 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa at Villa Park. Whether or not he is available for the clash with Everton remains to be seen.
