Hostilities were renewed as Olympique Lyonnais owner John Textor made another dig at Paris Saint-Germain in a clip on DAZN.
Textor has been critical of PSG since purchasing Lyon back in December 2022 and has a tumultuous relationship with the club’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi. Textor has been critical of the Ligue 1 champions, even denouncing “illegal” activity, which was met with a strong rebuttal from Les Parisiens.
In a recently leaked video, Textor and Al-Khelaifi were shown clashing on the topic of Ligue 1’s broadcasting rights with the latter calling the former a “cowboy from I don’t know where.” In response, Textor donned a cowboy hat when PSG and OL met earlier this year.
Textor has not been shy to take another dig at Les Parisiens. In a clip shown on DAZN, the OL owner spoke about the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. Another of his clubs, Botafogo, will compete in this summer’s tournament and will in fact face PSG. “Botafogo won the Brazilian league and the Copa Libertadores to qualify. Now, we are going to play against a little team from Paris and also a big historic club – Atletico Madrid. I really can’t wait,” said Lyon’s owner. PSG will face Botafogo on 20th June.
