With Farke's future at Elland Road far from clear, Giovanni van Bronckhorst is one name that has been linked to the job

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has called Leeds United a "nice club" after being linked with the not-vacant job at Elland Road, amid increasing speculation over Daniel Farke's future.

Despite leading the Whites back to the Premier League at the second time of asking, Farke's job has been called into question recently, with a report from the Daily Mail claiming last week that owners 49ers Enterprises are considering replacing the German in the dugout ahead of the 2025-26 season, and The Guardian reporting that chairman Paraag Marathe is flying in for talks over his future.

It would be a very bold move for Marathe to part ways with Farke, but several names have been linked in the rumour mill - with one of those being Van Bronckhorst.

As per the aforementioned Guardian report, Van Bronckhorst is among the names that are said to be being considered by the Leeds hierarchy should Farke depart.

They have even reported that "initial soundings" have been made towards the Dutch former left-back, who played for the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona in his heydey, but the likes of ex-Benfica boss Roger Schmidt and Real Madrid assistant Davide Ancelotti are also on the radar.

Despite this though, Van Bronckhorst has revealed that there has been no contact between himself and Leeds, although he stopped short of shutting the door of taking charge at Elland Road.

"Yes, I read about it. But there's nothing going on at the moment," Van Bronckhorst said whilst punditing in the Netherlands for Barcelona's Wednesday night UEFA Champions League clash with Inter Milan, as relayed by LeedsLive.

Are Leeds a nice club? Definitely. I am enjoying life now, but I think it would be nice to be back on the pitch."

50-year-old Van Bronckhorst has managed at Feyenoord, Rangers, Besiktas and Chinese outfit Guangzhou R&F, winning the Eredivisie title in 2017 with Feyenoord in the process, as well as a Scottish Cup with Rangers in 2022.

Van Bronckhorst's words are ominous sign for Daniel Farke's position at Leeds United

Whilst it appears that there has been no official contact with the Dutchman, at this point you have to think there is no smoke without fire.

There are too many rumours about Farke's current position to ignore, and some of the managers that have been touted to replace him have plenty of top flight experience.

Van Bronckhorst could have properly shut down the speculation and talked Farke up, but he chose not to do that, and considering he doesn't currently have a job, it's perhaps not too much of a surprise.
