A win for the real United will cap the festive period off just nicely

What a festive season Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest are enjoying. They racked up yet another win at Goodison Park against Sean Dyche’s scouse mackems and former Newcastle United striker Chris Wood was on the scoresheet once again. Forest are now up to second position in the EPL.

Leaders Liverpool hammered West Ham 5-0 at the London Stadium and Julen Lopetegui is surely now on borrowed time.

It’s not looking good for Ange Postecoglu at Spurs either, they conceded a late equaliser to a resurgent Wolves under their new manager Vitor Pereira. Tottenham really struggling with just one win in their last seven Premier League matches.

Fulham also drew 2-2 with Bournemouth at Craven Cottage, in what was a good result for Newcastle.

Pep’s Manchester City finally got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory at Leicester.

In the other Premier League game on Sunday,  Crystal Palace beat the doomed looking Saints of Southampton 2-1 at Selhurst Park.

Monday’s fixtures are Villa v Brighton, Ipswich v Chelsea and of course Manchester United v Newcastle United at Mould Trafford.

A draw at Villa Park would suit the Toon, if going with current form, United can defeat the Salfords.

Chelsea will almost certainly beat Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

One of the biggest thrills (and laughs!) I got on Sunday was when Stoke City grabbed an injury time winner against Sunderland in the Championship.

A Newcastle United win against the rancid Red Devils will cap this festive period off just nicely and will establish Newcastle as the top United going into 2025.

What’s not to look forward to or like?

Bring them on and hopefully it will be one bloody big Happy New Year.
