AC Milan defender Kjaer eases concern after Sassuolo substitution

AC Milan defender Simon Kjaer played down his substitution in last night's 0-0 draw with Sassuolo.

Kjaer says it was just a precautionary measure after his successful return from last season's knee injury.

“It took a lot of work and sacrifice to be back here to help," the experienced defender told DAZN.

“I feel well, but I haven't had this feeling since I was 24. I felt a stretch behind the leg, so I asked to be subbed off to avoid an injury."

Kjaer admits Sassuolo's tactical choices surprised the Rossoneri.

“We had to win, but Sassuolo surprised us. We didn't expect them to sit back, happy to get away with a point.

“We lacked something in the final pass and this is something we must improve."
