La Liga outfit Sevilla have this evening announced some much-needed deadline day reinforcements to the club’s first-team squad.
The player primed to link up with Quique Sánchez Flores’ squad ahead of the 2nd half of the campaign? Alejo Véliz.
Véliz, for his part, spent the first half of the season in the Premier League, on the books of Tottenham Hotspur.
After struggling for game-time amid the considerable step up from Argentinian to English football, however, speculation had long begun to spread that the 20-year-old would be on the move ahead of the winter transfer deadline.
And, as alluded to above, late tonight, precisely that has been confirmed.
As per an official statement across the website and social media platforms of La Liga giants Sevilla:
‘We have reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Alejo Véliz on loan until the end of the season.’
The transfer, as expected, does not feature an option to buy in the summer, but in the case of Véliz impressing in front of goal over the months ahead, Sevilla could yet look to extend his loan into next season.
