Massimiliano Allegri is ready to get back on the horse and is waiting for a call from a top Serie A team. Al-Ahli seemed to have convinced him to move to Saudi Arabia with a €50M, two-year contract. However, the hiring fell through as they kept Matthias Jaissle instead, Calciomercato informs.
His confidant and mentor Giovanni Galeone, expects the former Juventus boss to pass up on further opportunities to move to the Middle East to stay in Italy.
Allegri has been so far linked especially to Roma and Milan. He was making €7M at Juventus. It would be a substantial salary for both sides. The Giallorossi are mostly eyeing up-and-comers.
Possible new Rossoneri directors Igli Tare and Fabio Paratici have previous ties with him, although the latter was the one who masterminded his first firing in Turin. The Albanian official is a dated admirer. It remains to be seen whether he’ll indeed be the choice to bolster the front office. The higher-ups have slowed things down on that front.
Allegri could also emerge as a surprise option for Inter. Simone Inzaghi could have the chance to take over a Premier League powerhouse in the summer. His contract isn’t long-term. He could be tempted to leave if they won the Champions League. Giuseppe Marotta is very familiar with the Tuscan boss. He had contacted him after Antonio Conte left abruptly a few years back.
Considering that some young guns haven’t completely lived up to expectations, it wouldn’t be surprising if a team played it safe and took the retread route, especially one that needs steady guidance more than a fancy playing philosophy.
