Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has provided a fresh injury update ahead of the Premier League clash against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Red Devils suffered a 4-3 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup quarter-final last night. They were good in attack but lacked defensive resolve.
United conceded goals with high-profile defensive errors, and Amorim will want a huge improvement when the club face the Cherries at Old Trafford this weekend.
Amorim has provided a brief update on midfielder Mason Mount, who picked up a fresh injury in the 2-1 league win over Manchester City last weekend.
He told Manutd.com: “(Several weeks. I don’t know the exact date, but it’s going to be for long. And that’s it – it’s part of football, and you continue.”
The England international has had a tough career with United. He has featured in just 42 percent of the club’s games since his high-profile move from Chelsea last year.
His latest setback is another big cause for concern. The £27 million-rated star has picked up a fresh injury, and he could be sidelined for some time.
Amorim has regularly supported the midfielder since his appointment, and Mount will hopefully repay the faith shown when he returns to first-team action next year.
The manager also indicated that Marcus Rashford is available for selection on Sunday.
United now need to refocus after the midweek setback. The club are just six points behind the Champions League places after the dramatic derby win on the road last weekend.
The Red Devils need to keep on winning games to close the deficit. The Cherries are not easy opponents to face. They secured a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford last year.
Andoni Iraola’s side play an exciting brand of football. United need to be defensively strong to take with maximum points from Sunday’s league encounter.
