Ansu Fati has accepted he has no hope of fighting his way back into Hansi Flick's plans and is ready to leave Barcelona this summer, a report has revealed.
Fati was heralded as perhaps the next great superstar of world football when he made his breakthrough in the Barcelona senior side in the 2019/20 season at just 16 years old, but a knee injury in November 2021 sparked a lengthy fitness battle which has threatened to derail his career.
A loan to Brighton & Hove Albion failed to reignite his trajectory last season and Fati has found himself out in the cold under new Barcelona boss Hansi Flick, who has handed the winger a total of eight appearances across all competitions worth just 187 minutes.
Fati, who has not played for Barcelona since January 4, declined the chance to leave in the winter transfer window in favour of fighting for his place in the squad, but Mundo Deportivo state the 22-year-old has accepted defeat.
Aware that his career is stalling, a "disappointed" Fati is ready to leave the club in the summer and has already received offers from a handful of sides.
Barcelona are keen to offload Fati as he is among the highest earners in the squad. He signed a six-year deal in October 2021 when he was a key starter and is believed to take home around £200,000 per week, which reports claim puts him behind only Robert Lewandowski and Frenkie de Jong on the wage books.
Trimming their wages is a key priority for Barcelona, who have seen their salary cap reduced by La Liga amid concerns over the legitimacy of a €100m sale of VIP seats in the new Camp Nou. League officials allege Barcelona do not currently have the means to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor despite the official ruling that the pair can remain part of the squad for the remainder of the season.
Offloading Fati's immense wages would go a long way to helping Barcelona stay within their budget, even if they are forced to agree a pay-off with the winger, whose contract still has two years left to run.
