According to a report from Sky Sports, Arsenal and Manchester United are both unlikely to continue their pursuit of Mathys Tel (19).

The French centre-forward was reportedly keen to secure regular football away from the Allianz Arena, which prompted Premier League clubs to move for the Stade Rennais academy graduate.

Sky states that as things stand Arsenal will not follow up their interest after they had explored a deal to bring the former Rennes forward to North London. They also note that a deal between Manchester United and Bayern Munich looks increasingly unlikely.

Tel was reportedly open to a move to Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United but talks definitively broke down and Tel won’t secure a deadline-day move to the Red Devils. RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins wrote that Bayern Munich were deemed too “greedy” in their exchanges with Manchester United.

It remains to be seen if Tel will secure a move away from the Bundesliga club before the transfer deadline shuts.
